called home,
mom wasn't around but my little cousin was.
asked him about his high school life,
how he enjoyed the times,
then I started remembering what I did in that little island.
the northern part of the island is sparsely inhabited.
it contains most of the tourist destinations,
mainly battlegrounds of world war 2.
this area has no human lights at night.
we would at times go to a cliff,
called banzai cliff for the japanese soldiers who preferred the sea than surrender,
at night, of course not telling the parents that we're going there.
I wasn't able to go there as often as the others,
but I do remember this one night,
when there was no moon.
there were no lights around us,
no moon to shine the area,
but still all was bright.
I was able to see the ocean below the cliff,
the monuments for the dead,
and when I raise my head up,
a sea of diamonds.
gotta go back there again.
