illy ground espresso coffee

decided that coffee was a big-enough part in my life to make a bigger investment on.

nearly double the price of other ground coffee,

but I think it does taste that much better. 


can't be sure if I can say the same if I go through a blindfold test though.

john 8:3-11

the teachers of the law and the pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery.

they made her stand before the group and said to Jesus,


"teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.

in the law Moses commanded us to stone such women.

now what do you say?"


but Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with His finger.

when they kept on questioning Him,

He straightened up and said to them,


"let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."


again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.


at this, those who heard began to go away one at a time,

the older ones first,

until only Jesus was left,

with the woman still standing there.

Jesus straightened up and asked her,


"woman, where are they? has no one condemned you?"


"no one, sir," she said.


"then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared.


"go now and leave your life of sin."



no matter what we've done in the past,

even if it was the most horrifying thing,

something we ourselves feel like we deserve death,

He tells us that we are not condemned for it,

as long as we turn away from it today.

this isn't just some "patching up" job He's doing,

it's restoring us like new.

went to jersey for church meeting,

finished around 12:30,

and came back to the city around 1.

it didn't look like it was 1 though.

oh yeah,

bought shorts yesterday.

probably the first pair of shorts that are not athletic or cargo pants.

better than I expected it to look,

but it's still going to need some time to get used to.

nothing special, I guess.

he told me that it's not a suitable place for me

to roam around late at night,

and still feel like there's nothing wrong with it.

phone call

got a phone call from one of my favorite friends/hyungs.

time surely flew quickly--

haven't talked to him for about 3 months.

talked about what's been going on in Michigan--

people graduated and leaving, getting married and such.

he'll be leaving too, along with a handful of other people I know.

Michigan will be pretty quiet for me if I ever do go back from now on.

nightmare

had one of those weird dreams

where I couldn't tell the difference if I was having a nightmare

or it was one of those 


"can't move my body and someone's staring at me" things.


funny thing is,

situation was similar to the last nightmare I had.

thought that I should start taking better care of my face--

a face lotion should be a step to a good direction.

it's from a trustworthy source, so this is going to be good.

one of the annoying things about displayed clothing:

unless  people can go around with pins holding the back like this, this is misleading. 

please either display as it is or make your clothing have a better fit.

praising the Lord not just for the outcomes of your personal life,

but for everything that He is.

appreciation

it's not a necessary process,

but you surely get to understand how much you appreciate something

when the possibility that it will be gone arises. 

opportunity

I do feel like only at this age will I be able to make these kinds of decisions with just a night or two of pondering.

groceries

went to get some groceries;

thought the fresh air would be nice also.

called mom on the way there,

and continued talking as I shopped.

asked what's the difference between a brown egg and a white one,

and between butter and "can't believe it's not butter" brand. 

she's constantly telling me recipes;

probably will have to ask about it again later. 

grammar

I have to admit,

I'm a stickler when it comes to grammar.

the fact that I misused "they're/their" in my previous post

is filling me up with self-embarrassment and a feeling of stupidity,

maybe more than I need to.

it's always a great feeling

when you happen to cross eyes with someone while walking down the street,

and their response is

"good morning"

try to make one at least once every weekend.

there should be bread where it's empty,

but the bread went... bad.

old friend

met an old friend that I haven't met for a good 8 years or so.

and you know the friend is a friend

because as soon as we saw each other,

we just started talking like we've seen each other two days ago.

and the lives of the people that were around us when we were kids.


it's good to see that he's doing well.

morning service passage:

to humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.

finally got to try going to the moma.

although it was only for a short time,

it felt good looking at the fine works of art displayed there,

reading the descriptions every once in a while.

also got to see "starry night" by vincent van gogh,

one of my favorite works of art.

I guess the fountain stops at night.

would have been nice if it was on.

with the weather becoming warmer,

I should get rid of all those bottles in my windowsill

the long haul

during the church message today (ruth 4),

there was a short mention about how a quest for a woman's heart is like a battle

(I think it was related to the moment when boaz sets out to confront the kinsman redeemer,

who might potentially take ruth in as his wife if he decides to),

going through ups and downs,

lasting short or long.


remembered it when I came home,

had some time so I drew (on a used envelope) what came on my mind when I was hearing that:

a soldier with a backpack.

if I was to put any meaning to detail,

the tilted, unfastened helmet would imply disorder,

a product of battle.

of course,

the soldier should be more worn-out if in battle,

but I'll have to draw better for that.

espresso

made a full pot of espresso with the espresso pot for the first time

and I just drank all of it.

didn't intend to,

but just kept drinking.

goodness, I'm not going to enjoy the crash.

1980s

looking at photos of new york city in the 1980s,

abandoned cars lying around,

roads that lack maintenance,

subways full (like full in and out) of graffiti..

I think I saw pictures of the subway last time

and remarked how the subway system made a great improvement,

but I guess that applies to the whole city.

it seems that sometimes,

no matter how much I try to say the right thing,
